Dr. Amaryllis Verhoeven is Deputy Director and Head of Unit in the Directorate General (DG) for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs at the European Commission (EU Commission). She has extensive experience on policy files relating to single market, industrial policy, digitalisation, energy policy and governance in general. Dr. Amaryllis Verhoeven is also a visiting lecturer at the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven and has worked as an attorney with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in Brussels and New York. Dr. Verhoeven holds a Ph.D. in law and political philosophy from the Katholieke University of Leuven, focusing on questions of democracy and constitutionalism, and is regularly speaking on topics of EU economic & democracy policies.
