ERCI Webinar | Innovative Solutions for Energy Consumption Management

Berlin - Germany 19 January 2022 - 10:00am (GMT +01:00) Theme: The green and digital transition

In this webinar, you will learn more about innovative solutions for energy consumption management in the railway sector. Bozankaya is a member of the Turkish ERCI cluster ARUS and will present the Bozankaya Battery Tram. With the high voltage battery application integrated into the tram drive system, catenary-free drive is provided. Thanks to this battery concept with lithium-ion chemistry, it is possible to drive 63 km without a catenary under normal operating conditions. The German SME INAVET, a member of Rail.S and winner of the Saxon SET4FUTURE innovation 2021 award will present smarttrains.das, a driver advisory system for energy and cost-efficient driving while maintaining punctuality in rail traffic. It gives recommendations for the optimal driving mode depending on the operational situation in real time. Both companies are finalists of the ERCI Innovation Awards in 2021 and Bozankaya is the winner in the “Best Large Enterprise” category. This webinar is organised by the European Railway Clusters Initiative (ERCI). ERCI comprises 16 research and innovation-oriented railway technology clusters, covering 17 countries. ERCI represents more than 1,500 SMEs and aims to promote innovation and the development of new business opportunities as a means to sustainably strengthen competitiveness within the European railway industry. ERCI promotes cooperation between industry and research, initiates innovation projects, organises B2B meetings and workshops. This also includes promoting visibility and networking at EU level.

Development of environmentally-friendly (green) training for specialists in the construction sector

Huelva - Spain 27 January 2022 - 9:30am (GMT +01:00) Theme: The green and digital transition

Most experts agree that over the next few decades, the world will undergo potentially dangerous changes in climate, which will have a significant impact on almost every aspect of our environment, economies and societies, and also, the built environment. It is widely known that buildings construction contributes to Climate change. But the main issue is, how are we going to deal with the direct and indirect impacts of changes in climate on building and construction technology. Construction projects around the world have a significant impact on our environment, both on a local and a global scale. Every stage of the construction process has a measurable environmental impact: the mining processes used to source materials, the transportation of these materials to the building site from sources around the world, the construction process itself and the waste removal and disposal process that follows the completion of the project. With a rapidly developing global economy, it is crucial that we understand how the construction projects we undertake impact the environment and how we can measure and reduce that impact in the future. As the effects of climate change are felt across the world and with the construction industry being responsible for as much as 40 percent of man-made carbon emissions, both governments and individuals are beginning to take the task of building eco-friendly houses much more seriously. Fuelled by increased demand a new industry of eco friendly home building has grown up and a whole host of technological innovations have created an arsenal of eco friendly building materials and techniques.

ALL SHADES OF BIM: The importance of BIM libraries in the digitisation process in design and construction operations

Ljubljana - Slovenia 27 January 2022 - 10:00am (GMT +01:00) Theme: The green and digital transition

The introduction of digitalization in the Slovenian economy, in which construction is an important segment and element in the creation of the gross national product, is becoming an increasingly important element in the modernization of the construction industry, which is the second pillar of the economic structure. So far in Slovenia, we have seen excellent results in the implementation of digital platforms, especially in the emphasis on the use of BIM, in the planning area, while the results in construction operations and later in facility management have been worse, although the situation is slowly improving here as well. Therefore, with this seminar, we want to present a very important segment of the use of BIM in practice. This is the introduction of digital libraries and catalogues, which are just beginning to find their way into practice in Slovenia, both in planning and in construction operations. It is particularly important that product manufacturers make digital products available to designers, suppliers and contractors. It is a very important fact that manufacturers of building products and semi-finished products, furniture and other equipment need digital representations and BIM libraries for their products so that designers can integrate them into BIM projects for new buildings or renovations. The digital products in the BIM library sheet make it easier to design and market products with actual geometry, materials and properties in all available manufacturer versions.

It provides automated processes plus crucial information about the vehicle fleet in real-time. The Berlin based SME Knick Elektronische Messgeräte will present an innovative product for functionally safe duplication of signals. The ProLine P16800 Speed Sensor Signal Doubler, Isolator, Converter listens to signals from speed sensors (pulse generators, encoders, etc.) without affecting these signals (no interaction between systems on a SIL 4 functional safety level) and copies these signals without modification (signal transmission on a SIL 2 functional safety level). Both companies are finalists of the ERCI Innovation Awards in 2021 and PJ Monitoring is the winner in the “Best SME” category. This webinar is organised by the European Railway Clusters Initiative (ERCI). ERCI comprises 15 research and innovation-oriented railway technology clusters, covering 16 countries. ERCI represents more than 1,500 SMEs and aims to promote innovation and the development of new business opportunities as a means to sustainably strengthen competitiveness within the European railway industry.
