Sustainability, construction, energy saving, safety: the challenges of mountain areas.

Longarone - Italy 24 February 2022 - 9:00am (GMT +01:00) Theme: The green and digital transition

The EU Industrial Strategy is a key element towards a greener, more digital and more resilient future. It identifies tools to support businesses and manufacturing activities in their digital transformation and transition to a carbon-neutral economy. It also encourages the adoption of new solutions for economic recovery and resilience development, following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the events that will open the virtual edition of "Re-Build" represent a moment of confrontation between the world of politics and institutions and the local productive ecosystem. In particular, the focus is on the new European, as well as national and regional, strategy in the building and construction sector. This sector accounts for one third of global energy consumption: for this reason, the issues of green building, environmental sustainability, safety, and innovation in materials, with particular attention to systems for the production of energy and heat, are fundamental to lead to a greener and more sustainable world. What is more, it is necessary to improve the global competitiveness of industrial and production activities, creating jobs while respecting the most delicate territories, such as mountain areas. The revitalisation of the mountain building system, with particular attention to the ecological transition and the inclusion of the younger generations, is therefore the real challenge that our territories will have to face in the coming years.

The event will be an opportunity to learn about the virtuous examples of companies and ecosystems that have been able to manage changes imposed by the Covid-19 Pandemic and the prospects that come from the challenges of global climate and the digital revolution in enterprises. The Resilient Industry Panels, organized for March 30th, will cover Infrastructure for Resilience, physical and digital, as well as new issues for Finance and Investment, with speakers from regional and national industry and institutions. The second day will be, however, dedicated to the Resilience as a new source of development for communities and territories, touching the issues and tools for repopulation and neo-population of Inner Areas, villages and suburbs, the Creative Industries and the Essential Skills for Resilience: topics that open a concrete, stimulating and cross-generational debate on the future of our cities and productive activities. An event that takes on a particular significance following the experiences that Abruzzo has been able to propose for the recovery of the territories and the resilience of businesses after the two tragic earthquakes of 2009 and 2016. A territory able of being recognized over the years as a Green Region of Europe that wants to be the engine of the digital revolution in the Adriatic Area.
