Vasyl Bodnar, born in Ukraine's Ternopil Region, is a distinguished diplomat with extensive experience. He graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, earning degrees in International Relations (1998) and Law (2003), and completed a European integration course at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations "Clingendael" (1999).
His diplomatic career began in 1998 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He served in various capacities, including Attaché, Third Secretary of the Balkan Countries Department (1998-2000), and held multiple roles at the Embassy of Ukraine in Russia (2000-2004). Bodnar led the Turkey and South Caucasus Department (2004-2006) before serving as First Secretary and Advisor at the Embassy in Poland (2006-2010).
He then held senior positions in the MFA's central apparatus, including Deputy Director of the Third Territorial Department (2010-2012). Internationally, he was Counselor-Envoy at the Embassy in Turkey (2013-2015) and Consul General in Istanbul, also representing Ukraine to BSEC (2015-2017).
From November 2017 to October 2021, Bodnar served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Subsequently, he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey from October 2021 to October 2024.
Since November 2024, Vasyl Bodnar has held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland.
