Aleksandra Lobnik

Aleksandra Lobnik graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in Ljubljana. She received her PhD at the Institute of Organic Analytical Chemistry of Graz University, Austria. She conducted her postdoctoral education at the same University.

She has been employed as a full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maribor, where she teaches chemistry, analytical chemistry, and nanomaterials courses. The focus of her research is the development of new optical chemicals and bio-sensors for different applications, such as personal protection and security, smart textiles, and environmental protection. The emphasis is on the synthesis of new materials, nanomaterials, biomaterials, and sol-gels, which would improve sensory characteristics. In 2006 she co-founded a spin-off company IOS, where she is also employed. She is currently most involved in the applicability of scientific research in the field of sensors, nanomaterials, water treatment and recycling of polymeric waste.
