Francisco Vico is full professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malaga (Spain) and a collaborator with the cluster GAIA. He has been PI in 50 basic and applied research projects, authored more than 50 papers, and has been awarded in four spin-off contests.
Vico created ToolboX.Academy, an open platform for teaching programming to children and youngsters. The platform was one of the winners of the Digital Skills Awards 2021 (organised by AMETIC). This learning ecosystem was further developed by GAIA and extended with the 7EKY platform for upskilling and reskilling in the most demanded topics of CIT, like web development, microcontrollers programming, AI and cybersecurity.
Vico was also PI in the Melomics project (reviewed by Nature, and in the top 100 contributions by Discover Magazine in 2012) which created a computer composer whose works have been performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
