Philipp Tschinke (33) has been the Head of Brussels Office for Salzgitter AG since October 2022. As part of the Public & Regulatory Affairs team, he leads EU affairs for the German steel and technology group, which employs around 23,000 people and had a turnover of €10.0 billion in 2024. Prior to his current position, Mr Tschinke worked as a Member of European Parliament's assistant for 2 ½ years. He began his career at Salzgitter in the Executive Office & Corporate Affairs department. He holds a master's degree in Political Sciences from the University of Hannover. Salzgitter AG, headquartered in Lower Saxony, is a frontrunner in the decarbonisation of the steel industry. The SALCOS (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) programme aims to transform steelmaking from coal-based to hydrogen-based processes by 2033, potentially reducing annual CO2 emissions by up to 95 percent.
