Kristiina Jokelainen is CEO at SmartNorth, coordinator on Thematic Smart Specialisation Partnership on Mining, and a member of the European Commission S3 Expert Group.
She has long-term and extensive experience in regional development, EU cooperation the development of smart specialisation, regional innovation ecosystems, and internationalisation. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Kristiina worked at the Regional Council of Lapland, where she was responsible for S3 and interregional collaboration initiatives, including European mining regions’ collaboration and coordination of the DG Regio’s pilot 'Regions in Industrial Transition in East and North Finland'.
