Martin Pei is the Executive Vice President and CTO of SSAB. He has a PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He has been a member of the SSAB’s Executive Committee since 2007 and has been employed at the company since 2001.
Previously, he was SSAB’s EVP and Head of Business Area, as well as EVP and Head of Technical Development. Prior to that, he was the General Manager of Slab Production in the company’s Plate Division, where he was also a Manager of R&D Primary Products.
Mr. Pei is the initiator of the HYBRIT initiative, a cooperation between SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall and served as the first-term chairman of board for Hybrit Development AB. He is currently chairman of board for SWERIM—the Swedish Research Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Metals Research, and member of the board for Jernkontoret. Mr. Pei is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy for Engineering Sciences. Mr. Pei received the Tadeusz Sendzimir Memorial Medal 2023, presented by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology, AIST, May 2023
