Simo Säynevirta has had an extensive career at ABB, having served in various global positions in platform technology development, product management and R&D over 30 years. Today he is leading ABB’s Green Electrification ecosystem program, which develops ABB’s platform technology for the optimum generation, transmission and use of electricity and partner applications to decarbonize industry, transportation and built environment through green electrification.
One of the key use cases in the Green Electrification program is Power-to-X and hydrogen economy. In this context, Mr. Säynevirta has been contributing actively for the development of Hydrogen Cluster Finland since its inception. At the beginning of 2023, he was elected to serve as the Chairman of the HCF.
Mr. Säynevirta’s activity in technology innovation is illustrated by the number of patents to his name. In 2022, Mr. Säynevirta was awarded as the ’CTO of the Year’ in Finland by Technology Industries of Finland and Finnish govermental innovation agency Business Finland.
